Whole Oat Groats: Raw Hulless Oats, Farmer Direct 15 lbs. (Clear Poly Plastic Bag (Organic))

Hulless oats grown on our farm in Grundy county, Illinois. The oats have never left the farm. It was grown, harvested, cleaned and stored here. It's non-GMO and certified organic. These oats would look like whole oat groats you'd buy at the store; except these haven't been heat treated and processed to remove the hulls. This is a natural occurring trait in them in which the hulls easily fall off in the harvesting process (combining). The advantage is the groats are still raw. The disadvantage is they are harder and more expensive to grow (but I've already done that for you) Cut them into pieces and you'll have steel cut oats (Irish oatmeal). Grind them coarsely and you'll have Scottish oatmeal. Roll them coarsely and you'll have rolled oats (traditional oatmeal). Roll them tight and you'll have instant oatmeal. Grind them fine and you'll have oat flour. Or cook them as they are for an old fashioned breakfast cereal. Note: This is a raw, unprocessed agricultural product. Our cleaning equipment doesn't completely remove all the foreign material. It may need to be rinsed and/or sorted for some uses. This variety of oats is also darker than usual (see picture). We chose it more for taste than appearance. Allergy Notice: Our farm uses some of the same machinery to harvest and handle corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, buckwheat, sunflowers and field peas. These are raw, unprocessed oats direct from the farm that have NOT been tested for the pathogens associated with sprouting. If used raw or for raw sprouting consult FDA recommendations. They should be tested, sanitized and/or cooked. Cook before eating. Not meant for sprouting unless further processed and/or tested
